Swiss Netball is pleased to offer this umpiring course. You must be at least 14 years old and an individual member of Swiss Netball. It is vital that you are familiar with the INF Rules of Netball and ideally have some umpiring experience and aptitude. Delivered by a Netball Europe appointed Tutor, this C Award Umpire Course is taken in two parts 1) Theory and 2) Pre-assessment and Practical Assessment.

Please note only those who attend and pass the Theory course/written exam can then proceed to take the required Practical assessments if desired.

1) Theory

This online course will include an overview of C Umpiring Theory. After you have attended the required theory course, you will sit a 30 minute online written assessment which may be taken at any time in the comfort of your own home. Currently, this is only available online in English. For anyone requiring to sit the written assessment paper in French, they can do so at a later date with an invigilator.

Please note if you do not pass the written assessment paper and wish to re-sit the test, you will be required to repeat the theory course. Whilst you will not be expected to pay the full amount for a new course, there will be an additional fee charged of 30.-CHF for administration costs.

A passed C Award umpire theory exam is valid for two years from the pass date.

The detailed timings are as follows:

  • 11:00 – 12:30 Session 1
  • 12:30 – 13:30 Break
  • 13:30 – 15:00 Session 2

What to bring:

Notepad and pen;
Highlighter pens;
A presentation will be sent to you in advance for printing to use as working notes during the sessions; INF Rules of Netball 2020 (or available to print here);
A bottle of water.

Participants will also have a further opportunity for a group follow-up session with the Netball Europe Tutor a few weeks after the course to ask questions or seek clarification on any points that may have come to mind since completing the course or as they ́ve begun to practice their new umpiring skills!

2) Practical Assessments

This will consist of a Pre-assessment and Practical assessment. Please note if you do not pass the Practical assessment on the day and a re-sit is required, there will be an additional charge of 90.- CHF. In line with the Netball Europe Officiating Pathway, the re-sit of a Practical assessment cannot take place for a minimum period of 3 months from the date of assessment. You must also undertake a further pre-assessment before retaking the Practical assessment.
